IF the thought of running 10k scares the life out of you – look away now.
But if you are thrilled by the prospect of a Halloween-themed, night-time jog through an Essex seaside town in support of two terrific local charities – then step right up.
The Leigh-on-Sea Striders (LoSS) are looking for entrants for their latest 10k race on Sunday, October 30.
Participants will set off from Leigh-on-Sea Station Car Park at 6pm before taking on three circuits of a multi-terrain course.
Following the success of LoSS’ last 10k on New Year’s Day, it will once again be held after dark – and this time it will be suitably spooky on the festive weekend.

The 50 fastest runners will start the chip-timed race before hundreds more set off after them on a course lined with marshals dressed to support and scare in equal measure!
There will be celebratory wine and pizza ready for runners as they are cheered across the finish line.
And there will be rewards for category winners and noteworthy Halloween costumes, with the guys at Happy Stride kindly donating some of their eye-catching running gear as prizes.
LoSS have raised over £30,000 for good causes with their annual 10k and this time around all proceeds from entry fees will be donated to the Benfleet-based Little Havens Hospice and Westcliff-based Trust Links, an independent mental health and wellbeing charity.
The Run Active-sponsored event is limited to 650 runners and entry costs £20 for individuals not affiliated to running clubs, and £18 for those who are.
